The cover for The End Games has been zipping around the blogs. I can’t tell you how delighted I’ve been thrilled by the wonderful response.
And so while this doesn’t strictly count as a “reveal,” it’s the first time I’m sharing the cover myself.
And I have to say, y’all: I adore it.
Actual fact: The first time I saw it, I teared up.
Frightening and wonder-filled, beautiful and ominous, the cover that Balzer + Bray and designer Jon Smith came up with is everything I’d dreamed it could be. Thank you so much for Donna Bray, Joanna Volpe, and everyone else for working so hard to create this magical image.
(Also, big thanks to Lenore Appelhans and YA Highway for allowing me to share the cover with their readers!)
The cover:
“The End Games is full of both jaw-dropping action and heart-twisting beauty. It’s a thrill ride that makes you think and feel: terrifying and joyful, funny and moving. In so many ways The End Games is the book I was waiting for and didn’t know it until I had it in my hands.”
— Sara Zarr, National Book Award finalist

Glad it’s OUT there. When I first saw it and after just hearing your synopsis of the book I felt like it was the perfect cover for the story. It’s creepy yet the two boys at the bottom, so tiny in a large scary world, represents so much heart as well. Jon Smith did a GREAT job and I like his portfolio.
Yay!
Hi, Jenn!
Thank you so much :] I totally agree about the heart thing — I think that’s what most won me over, honestly.
And yes, Mr. Smith has an AWESOME portfolio. He did a BREAKING BAD piece a while back that seems to have sold out, but I’m hopin’ he’ll have some more up soon….

Say what?! (re: Breaking Bad piece). If it does go up again, please let me know.
I’m aching because I can’t see season 5. Darn AMC and holding release of DVDs. I did see the first two eps of the season so I’m really intrigued to see what happens that leads to the future we saw.
Oh gosh, I think you’re gonna *love* BB5. FWIW, you can download ‘em on iTunes right now for about $2/episode. But I totally understanding wanting to use the TV for the Full Walter White Experience.

Hi Mike — I happened upon your cover art on Lenore A’s blog and scurried over here to see more of your thoughts about it. What a fantastic cover. Your team knocked it out of the park and I will have no trouble raving about this awesome jacket, that’s for sure.
Looking forward to reading it in May!
